Many animal shelters and rescue groups have come to recognize the inconsistency of rescuing some animals while eating others. They've made a commitment to serve only vegetarian meals at their fund raising events or other functions. If your favorite animal shelter doesn't have such a policy, you can get materials to encourage them to adopt one from such campaigns as Compassion over Killing's Campaign Humane or and Animal Place's Food For Thought campaign.
